The purpose of the Heads of Safety group is:
- To provide the Heads of Safety Group with direct input into UKTram Governance and Industry decision making
- To support delivery of Light Rail Safety and Standards Board (LRSSB) strategic objectives
- To provide a forum for each member company’s appointed Safety lead to meet and share information in a structured manner
- Contribute to systems and initiatives that support improved modelling and understanding of safety risk that exist within light rail
- Ensure proactive management of safety improvement activities by sharing safety concerns with other members in a timely manner
- Share best practice relating to the safe operation of light rail systems and where appropriate agree delivery plans for the consistent introduction of new work methods
- Produce reports on safety matters and support the LRSSB development of formal procedures and guidance to mitigate safety risk
