Sophie is a highly experienced leader, with a strategic understanding of business, specialising in public transport and tramway operations. Decisive and un-wavering in challenging environments and an effective communicator with the ability to harness relationships to achieve business goals.
As Interim Managing Director of Midland Metro, Sophie is accountable for the safe and sustainable operation of West Midlands Metro, and stepped into the position at a critical juncture for the business. Her key focus is directing and controlling the available resources to achieve business goals, whilst developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders including the Department for Transport.
During Sophie’s time at West Midlands Metro, she has accomplished some of the following key achievements:
- Lead the business through unprecedented circumstances; successfully navigating an extensive repair programme to the tram fleet and the reopening of service after a consequential suspension of service.
- Lead the business in launching a new network extension in readiness for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, whilst also balancing the service recovery.
