Lucchini Unipart Rail (LUR) and Midland Metro Ltd (MML) are pleased to announce the signing of a 3-year collaborative contract with the opportunity to extend for a further 2 years.

The scope of work for the Urbos3 bogies will consist of a major overhaul of the gearbox, traction motor and electromagnetic brakes for the full fleet of 21 trams.

The company have been working closely with the MML team for the past year to gather all technical information regarding the work that will be undertaken and look forward to working with them once production is underway.

Amar Gill, Rolling Stock Manager at West Midlands Metro, explained: “The work that will be undertaken forms an essential part of our scheduled tram maintenance programme. LUR have experience of undertaking similar projects in both the heavy and light rail sectors and we are pleased to be working with them.”
