The organisation representing the country’s light rail sector is sharing with its members the latest advice on reducing the spread of COVID-19.
While employees of transport operators are not currently classed as being at any higher risk than other organisations and the wider general public, UKTram is itself following the guidance from Health England.
James Hammett, the organisation’s Managing Director explained: “The safety and wellbeing of our members, and of the travelling public, is always our overriding priority so we’re sharing the latest advice on sensible precautions that everyone can take.
“We’re also playing our part by asking all our employees and members of UKTram working groups to consider if they need to attend meetings in person and, whenever possible, we’re ensuring they can access them remotely.
“We’re also asking anyone who is planning to attend a meeting to consider the current Government recommendation to self-isolate if they are showing symptoms or have been in close proximity to anyone who has.”
Although this remains a rapidly evolving situation, UKTram is writing to all members informing them of the latest advice from Public Health England, and urging them to share this with their employees, if they haven’t already done so.
“Naturally we are monitoring the situation closely and should circumstances change we will act accordingly, including sharing any updated health advice,” James added.
