Seaton Tramway welcome local accommodation providers for a fun-packed familiarisation evening! Monday May 15, 2017

On Wednesday 10th May, Seaton Tramway welcomed local accommodation providers for an exclusive trip along the beautiful Axe Valley. Departing from Seaton Terminus, a total of 63 passengers hopped aboard the Tramway’s unique narrow guage (2’9″) trams for an evening of excitement and discovery!

On their journey up to Colyton Station, there was a short stop at the Tramway’s Riverside Depot where attendees were able to see behind the scenes, take a short tour, and discover how this much loved tourist attraction came to be.

Tim Dafforn, from the East Devon Countryside Team, spoke to passengers about the Seaton Wetlands as they experienced first-hand the panoramic views of the estuary  from the Tramway’s open top double-deckers.

Upon arrival at Colyton Station, guests enjoyed some bubbly and were welcomed by various members of the Seaton Tramway and Jurassic Coast Trust teams, who were on-hand to answer any questions or queries and provide additional information about the amazing World Heritage Site that resides on East Devon’s doorstep. Meanwhile, a delicious buffet of freshly home-cooked food, using local produce, was laid out in the Tramway’s Garden Room at Colyton – which can seat anywhere up to 80 people!

As a final treat, attendees were given the opportunity to experience a brief taste of what it’s like to drive a tram under the careful instruction of the Tramway’s expert drivers. Returning safely back at Seaton, members of the Tramway team bid farewell to guests making sure everyone had their goody bags to take home, along with some fond memories of a unique journey back in time.

A spokesperson for the Tramway explained, “We believe that the more we work together with the local community, businesses and accommodation providers, the better placed we will be to ensure visitors, who holiday in our lovely part of the world, enjoy a truly memorable experience. By visiting Seaton Tramway, local accommodation providers are able to see first-hand what we are aiming to achieve and will hopefully recommend us as a top visitor attraction, offering visitors a fantastic day out for all ages – full of wonderful memories.”
