Lorraine George
Business Manager
Lorraine is our valued Business Manager here at UKTram.
Her journey in the transport sector began at 16 as a Junior Rail Person at Birmingham New Street station.
Since then, Lorraine has worked in various capacities across different sectors, including Non-profit, Local Council and as a Parliamentary Assistant for an MP.
Thus, Lorraine brings her rich experience and fantastic energy to UKTram and has done so for over nine years.
During this time, Lorraine has seen the organisation grow and evolve. Part of her role enables regular site visits, and she is pleased to see more women working in various roles within the industry
However, recognising there is still work to do, she advocates for more inclusive practices, such as flexible working hours and targeted outreach, to encourage women to explore careers in transport.
Lorraine aspires to continue expanding UKTram's membership in the UK and internationally, promoting collaboration to tackle industry challenges and ensuring the tram sector remains a vibrant and inclusive community.
We praise Lorraine and all women making strides in the light rail and the broader transport industry.
Such contributions are vital for the sector's growth and inspire the next generation of women to follow in their footsteps.
