We are now recruiting an Engineering Expansions Interface Manager to report to our Managing Director and work alongside our Leadership team and the Owner’s team to support our expansion across the West Midlands. 


About the Role

 As our Expansions Interface Manager, you will be specifically responsible for: 

  • Representing the interests of the Transport Undertaking and Infrastructure Manager with the Owners appointed contactors. 

  • Assessing contractor design proposals in relation to statutory requirements, MML’s Safety Management System and MML’s operational processes. 

  • Working with the Owner’s team and contractors to ensure that operational support requirements are identified in project proposals. 

  • Providing assurance to the MML Senior Leadership Team that operational hazards and risks are being appropriately managed and mitigated by contractors delivering change. 

  • Develop a risk and opportunities register for each capital project and monitor / report against this. 

  • Supporting our Head of Operations and safety in working with the Office of Rail and Road (ORR), Network Rail, Light Rail Safety and Standards Board (LRSSB) and local highway authorities. 

  • Supporting the Head of Operations and Safety for MML in the continued development of the Safety Management system. 


What you’ll need 

To be successful within this role it is essential that you have: 

  • Extensive knowledge of Light Rail health and safety, environmental management, operations, and maintenance practices. 

  • Extensive knowledge of the statutory regime within which tramways operate (i.e. ROGS) and experience in the delivery of the functions of a Transport Undertaker and Infrastructure Manager. 

  • Experience in the definition and management of safety critical and operational critical assets and in management of asset renewal / replacement programs. 

  • Experienced in the delivery of major projects (e.g. systems, depots, extensions) from an operational and maintenance perspective. 

  • Established network of industry contacts 

  • Experience of working with designers and construction contractors. 

  • Experience in working within a political / public sector environment. 

It would be great if you had: 

  • Relevant Degree (i.e. within Engineering) or equivocal experience. 

  • A leadership qualification. 

  • Health and Safety qualifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH.
