UKTram helping to lead integrated transport debate

UKTram is to play a key role in the promotion of integrated public transport solutions, with the organisation’s Managing Director joining a steering group for a high-profile forum.

James Hammett has been asked to join other transport experts in discussing ways of working together to promote effective ways of improving connectivity at a local, regional, national, and even international level.

The forum has been set up following a recent event in Manchester hosted by CMAC, a leading provider of managed ground transport and accommodation solutions for businesses.

During the Great Transport Debate, held at the Concord Conference Centre, James was among a panel of experts from across the transport sector who contributed to the discussions. This provided the opportunity to highlight the vital role light rail can play in improving urban connectivity.

“The event brought together leading figures from all modes of transport and proved an ideal platform to promote the benefits of tramways, and similar transit systems, as the backbone of integrated networks in urban areas,” James said.

“It also provided the launchpad for future collaboration, and I’m delighted to be joining a forum that will meet regularly to discuss ways we can work together to help meet the UK’s future transport challenges.”
