Seaton Tramway recently had the honour of presenting at the first ever Polar Express™ Event Enhancement Camp, in the USA. Travelling to Durango, Colorado in June, a team of Tramway staff were based at the narrow-gauge capital of the world and headquarters of Rail Events Incorporated. The Polar Express™ Train Ride Experience, under license from Warner Bros, is currently available at just four different locations in the UK (including Seaton Tramway) and is scheduled to grow over the next two years, and over 150 locations in the US. Members of the Tramway team attended a variety of seminars and presentations, over the course of a week, spending time with Broadway directors, event professionals and production experts to learn how to further enhance the Tramway’s very own Polar Express™ Tram Ride.
Rail Events organized an array of additional networking activities and entertainment including a private viewing of The Polar Express movie, a western-style evening with the Bar D Wranglers, and a train trip on the awe-inspiring Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, which runs up into the San Juan mountains 42 miles to Silverton through some of the most staggering scenery on earth.
Jenny Nunn, Chief Executive at Seaton Tramway and consultant for Rail Events UK and Northern Europe said: “It was indeed an honour and a privilege to be invited to speak to such a prestigious audience and because we were the last presentation of the conference, we had to ensure that Seaton Tramway left a lasting impression! By the audience reaction, I think we achieved this with our own take on La La Land, the often- funny language differences between British and American English and our experience of running a hugely successful railway attraction in the UK. It is totally invigorating to be part of a large, friendly group of US business people and railroaders who are so passionate about their work and willing to share their ideas with others.”
The Polar Express™ is coming back to Seaton Tramway on selected dates throughout December 2017: 1st-3rd, 8th-10th & 15th-24th December. Adult tickets are from £21.95, Children (3 to 15 years) are from £17.95, and children under 3 years are FREE.
