Manx Heritage Transport Festival

Isle of Man Railways are busy finalizing the last details of preparation for an exciting programme of events in this year’s Manx Heritage Transport Festival.

The festival promises to be the best year yet which starts this week and runs from the 25th to 29th July. Government employees together with volunteers have worked together to put on this busy calendar of events.

Events Co-ordinator Anji Street said: ‘Last year’s Manx Heritage Transport Festival was a great success and this year is set to be better yet!’

‘We have pulled out all the stops in order to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the last train on the northern line. To mark the occasion, a locomotive and Foxdale carriage will be position on the old track outside the original Manx Northern Station Building at Kirk Michael. This will be available to view all day on the 25th July 2018. This will be the first time since the closure of the line in 1968 that a locomotive has visited the station! So it’s a great photo opportunity’.

But that’s not all, Isle of Man Transport have another 32 events packed into the 5 days. These include Vintage Bus Tours and running days, Free guided walks, illustrated talks and social evening, photograph tours to name just a few.
