With trams departing from every seven minutes, seven days a week, and additional all-night trams running on Fridays and Saturdays, Edinburgh Trams provides a perfect travel choice for making the most of what August in Edinburgh has to offer.

To help people decide when and where to go, it has published its own online guide, which can be found here.

Sheffield Supertram

The third phase of summer Supertram investment, to future-proof and extend the lifespan of the tram, will begin on Monday, August 12, reports Rail Business Daily.

In March, South Yorkshire Supertram came back under public control after 27 years, and South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) is now investing around £5m this year to future-proof and extend the lifespan of our tram network.

The third area of summer network improvement works, carried out by VolkerRail, are due to be completed on Sunday, September 1, and you can find the full story here.

Tyne and Wear Metro

The Tyne and Wear Metro’s iconic network of tunnels is featuring in a four-day arts festival in an exhibit showcasing hidden parts of Newcastle city centre that are inaccessible to the public.

A team from the arts-led cultural production agency Curated Place has filmed and photographed parts of the Metro system that the public never gets to see, including tunnels, voids and air vents.

And these iconic images have gone on display at the NOVUM Festival, which is being held at Newcastle Civic Centre until August 11, and you can read more here.

Heritage

It’s August, and the summer holidays and hopefully some of them in and around Derbyshire may consider taking the family to Crich Tramway Village, which has planned a series of special events, British Trams Onine reports.

The fun starts this weekend when the museum will echo to the Sounds of the 1950s and 1960s. As well as music from these eras along with the chance to have a go at some of the dance crazes of the 60s, and you can find out more here.
