Phil Hewitt, a former Chairman of UK Tram will shortly be leaving his role as West Midlands Metro Director, it has been announced.
Phil is taking up a new role with WSP and will be moving to Israel to assist in the development of the country’s light rail network. As was already planned, he will be stepping down from his role as Interim Chair of the new Light Rail Safety and Standards Board and the recruitment of a permanent Chair is expected to be completed shortly.
Meanwhile, the LRSSB’s chief executive Peter Cushing will be supporting Transport for West Midlands on a part-time basis during the next six months whilst the organisation appoints a permanent replacement for Phil. Peter will be combining the roles during this period as the LRSSB ramps up its activities to support the sector.
