Entries for this year’s Global Light Rail Awards are now open!
Now in its 15th year, the Global Light Rail Awards celebrates excellence and innovation within the light and urban rail sectors, and the industry’s ‘Oscars’ returns to an in-person gathering at its familiar home, London’s magnificent Honourable Artillery Company, on Wednesday 6 October 2021.
Evaluating submissions on projects from four continents over 16 categories in 2020, the judges noted that “this was one of the toughest years yet to choose the winners. It is fantastic to see so many joint entries, showing that industry partners are sharing best practice and expertise as we all look to bring down costs, improve safety and sustainability and deliver the best possible passenger experience.”
Matt Johnston, Managing Director of event organiser Mainspring, added: “The past year has seen enormous challenges for the public transport sector, and we have all risen to those challenges magnificently so have a great deal to celebrate.
“Last year’s virtual awards were a great success, with guests from 11 countries participating via our bespoke web platform and smartphone app, but I am delighted to see the amount of interest we have seen already for a return to running the event in person that we all know and love for 2021.”
Supported by UKTram and public and private sector organisations from across the industry – entries are free, with submissions required by Monday 16 August 2021.
