Two new directors have been elected to the UKTram board during the organisation’s annual general meeting on Thursday, December 1.
Sophie Allison, Interim Managing Director at West Midland Metro, and Colin Robey, Chair of the UK Centre of Excellence, will replace former UKTram Chair , George Lowder MBE, Chief Executive of Transport for Edinburgh and Iain Anderson, Managing Director of Colas Rail, who narrowly missed out on re-election.
A new Chair will be appointed by the board at its next meeting on January 19.
James Hammett, UKTram Managing Director, commented: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank George for leading our organisation as it secured vital emergency funding for the sector during the Covid-19 pandemic, and long-term government support for UKTram and the LRSSB.
“I would also like to say thank you to Iain, who has also made a beneficial contribution to the organisation over the past six years. At the same time we welcome Sophie and Colin to the board, which has also seen industry consultant Lindsay Murphy and Joanne Bentley, Head of Customer Experience at Keolis Nottingham, re-elected.
“The board will continue to focus on the delivery of objectives set out in our latest business plan and promoting the interests and growth of the sector in the longer-term.”
