The Global Light Rail Awards is the perfect occasion to join the sector in celebrating its excellence and innovation over the past 12 months – the ceremony takes place at London’s Honourable Artillery Company this Wednesday (October 2).
Well-known as the industry’s ‘Oscars’, this event is hosted for another year by broadcaster, journalist and light rail expert Nicholas Owen and supported by leading industry journal Tramways & Urban Transit.
The Global Light Rail Awards recognises the successes of our incredible industry – and the dedicated and passionate people who deliver outstanding projects, create innovative and ground-breaking products, and deliver exceptional customer service to millions of passengers each day.
Matt Johnston of event organiser Mainspring said: “It’s been another spectacular for light rail around the world. We’ve seen more cities adopt light rail as a solution to the issue of growing populations, reducing congestion and tackling the related air quality issues. Hundreds of expansion projects have also been completed and thousands of new vehicles delivered.
“The judges have had another tough time evaluating some superb submissions, further proving what we’ve all been saying for years: light rail is good for cities, good for business, good for the environment and, most importantly of all, good for passengers. Wise investment in tramway and light rail solutions is an investment in the future, and our creative and vibrant supply chain is more than ready to deliver.”
