Blackpool Tramway

This historic tramway dates back to 1885, making it one of the world's oldest electric tram systems.

Department for Transport (DfT) reported an increase in passenger journeys to 4.9 million (up 16.7% from the previous period.",

In 2014, a massive £100 million upgrade transformed the system, replacing 11 miles of track, introducing 16 modern trams, and creating a new depot.

The newly upgraded system see’s faster journey times along the Fylde coast, with easy access and integrated Blackpool1 tickets. The new trams (Bombardier Flexity2’s) have level boarding and step-free interiors and designated disabled/pushchair areas making them accessible to all.",

Despite the modernisation, Blackpool Tramway still treasures its Heritage Fleet, offering year-round tours and renowned illuminations.
