As our Head of Engineering, your mission is to:

• Ensure Operational Excellence: Guarantee the safe operation and meticulous maintenance of tramway infrastructure, systems and rolling stock, maintaining comprehensive technical records.
• Drive Compliance and Standards: Oversee adherence to maintenance, legislative, and contractual requirements.
• Lead Innovation: Direct engineering changes and manage the lifecycle of the Metro Network with a visionary approach.
• Strategies for Success: Provide forward-thinking leadership and strategic direction to our engineering team.
• Master Financial Stewardship: Control budgets and finances for the Engineering Department with precision, ensuring Best Value.
• Manage Key Relationships: Handle support contracts with key suppliers, promoting positive relations.
• Advance Asset Management: Develop cutting-edge systems for asset management aligned with ISO 55001
• Collaborate on Major Projects: Partner with Transport for West Midlands on significant projects, offering first class engineering support to achieve optimal results.
• Champion Industry Standards: Engage with industry bodies to push the boundaries of light rail technology and standards.

Alongside a passion for rail, you’ll have: 

• Experience: Proven experience in an Engineering Management role within rail or light rail.
• Professional Accreditation: Such as, Chartered Engineer, Member of ICE, IET, IMechE, or PWI.
• Educational Background: Degree or HND in Engineering.
• Leadership Skills: Proven experience in managing teams and driving transformative change.
• Communication Prowess: Exceptional communication skills and ability to produce detailed, impactful reports and business cases.
